The Role

The Things You Love Doing

Implementing and executing marketing and social media plans to promote current projects
Managing ongoing online marketing strategies and social media presence on social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), email, website, etc.
Working with designers, other team members and volunteers to oversee the creation of marketing materials, ensuring they are consistent with marketing strategies and goals, and maintaining an inventory of marketing collateral
Advising on and implementing advertising strategies, including print, video, and overall messaging
Elevating PeaceGeeks’ work by developing key marketing and communication strategies that highlight our impact and engagement in the community
Identifying and developing strategic partnerships with traditional and non-traditional media outlets
Measuring and reporting on impact and outcomes of marketing and social media activities and campaigns
Some experience of marketing and social media, either through education, work or volunteering
Proficient and comfortable with social media management including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok
Knowledge of graphic design (i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), photography and/or video edition software is an asset
PR experience a benefit
Knowledgeable and familiar with online technology including Google Drive and Slack.
Passion for learning about barriers faced by newcomers to Canada; past experience working in an NGO, nonprofit or community organization is an asset
Comfortable adapting to a constantly changing work environment
Familiarity with Salesforce/CRM is an asset
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
Proven excellence in written, visual, and verbal communication skills

Time Commitment

This is a part-time and flexible volunteer role for an intrinsically motivated marketing and social media manager. This role requires the learner who is committed and motivated. The successful candidate will be supporting the execution of marketing related projects over the next year. The expected time commitment is approximately 3 to 5 hours per week and is flexible based on the volunteer’s schedule.
