PeaceGeeks is looking for a highly organized, self-starting and dynamic Project Coordinator and Executive Assistant to support the CEO, play a key role in PeaceGeeks’ operational effectiveness, and provide integral support for newcomers and forcibly displaced individuals arriving in Canada and beyond.

The Role

This is not your typical role. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of supporting multiple programs and tasks efficiently and with tremendous attention to detail. You are a perpetual learner, eager to grow your skills and adapt to the needs of a technology non-profit supporting domestic and international projects around peacebuilding and settlement. 

 You will be responsible for maintaining the CEO’s schedule and travel, understanding their needs and proactively communicating with the utmost professionalism with a wide range of stakeholders, including volunteers, partners, donors and government officials. You will work alongside the Controller to provide any financial support as needed, as well as support PeaceGeeks’ staff with necessary administrative support. 

In addition, you will work on a range of projects supporting newcomers, immigrants, refugees, and forcibly displaced people in their settlement journey. You will be at the forefront of technology and the settlement sector and assist in national research projects like the National Steering Committee on Technology, providing mentorship to newcomers to Canada, as well as supporting the execution and success of the national scaling of our award winning app, Arrival Advisor. Competitive understanding and/or lived experience in settlement or forced displacement is an asset. 

What you'll bring to it

PeaceGeeks is looking for a detail-oriented team player and self starter to join our team, with the following experience:

Required

  • Undergraduate degree, college diploma or certificate (or equivalent experience) in social sciences, public policy, business administration or related field. Training in immigration and settlement, human rights issues, community building and engagement is a strong asset
  • Two or more years’ experience in an executive support, senior office administration or project management role 
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), GSuite, and other digital tools and applications 
  • Experience managing calendars, outreach, communications and travel logistics
  • Comfortable working independently and in teams, including in online spaces
  • Ability to multi-task and organize ongoing projects, constantly striving to become more efficient in completing tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of newcomer experience and barriers 
  • High attention to detail and ability to communicate and report back to a team 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Takes initiative and can start/complete tasks with basic direction
  • Flexibility and patience to adapt to rapidly evolving environment and opportunities

Beneficial

  • Content Management experience considered a strong asset
  • Educational degree or diploma in administration, international relations/political science, social sciences an asset 
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics as an asset 
  • Knowledge of CRM systems 
  • Additional language(s) considered an asset

Salary
$40,000 - $45,000/year
Time Commitment

This is a full-time (37.5hr/week) regular position. PeaceGeeks offers core working hours, and flexible schedules, wellness days and a fully-funded supplemental health package.
